    Is it possable to install an overdrive unit on a 1950 1/2 t. truck with the following spesifications?

    1955 235CI engine
    3 on the colom
    Standard gearbox 3 fw, 1 rev.
    Original shaft
    Rear End Gears ratio 355:1

    If you have any suggestions or pictures from an overdrive that works be kind to tell me.

    Regards Martinius

    Martinus ;

    It depends on the rear end used ~ the original one with Torque Tube , no .

    If you convert to a '55 > rear end then yes , you can find an original side loading three speed gearbox from a '55 ? Chevy car as overdrive was an option... it'll bolt right up to your 235's bell housing .

    If you don't use the governor it'll engauge overdrive in any gear , this means
    2nd gear OD will climb hills like nothing , ZOOOOMMMMMMm ! :D

    That didn't sound overly helpful to me..... :(

    I'd far rather tell him of some nifty bolt up deal .
