Carb help please

I took my manual choke quadrajet off bought an edelbrock 1406 I bought plate number 2696 it ran like crap so i went to parts store guy told me i had the wrong plate said i need a 1932 plate so i bought it and it still runs like a turd sooooo sad it my baby and my baby is sick ...lol..... anyone help me????

Well call edelbrock toll free line. or go to there on line help. I do not like those carb's I would rather have the stock carb or a Holley . that the best I can do for you.

It sounds like it my have a vaccum leak between the adapter plate and manifold. Is the brake pedal effort harder now. If there is not a vaccum leak then the carb may need adjusting.

Go get a 80 -84 Quadrajet and take the Edelbrock carb back

Dude get a 81-85 Quadrajet off a truck perhaps a #17080213 on E-bay and rebuilt it with all new Quality parts for $100. Get Echlin Napa brand parts and Neopreme float not a Brass float. These carbs you can make the manifold heated choke housing electric and use a adjustable stat. These years of trucks didnt have the electronic crap and sensors on the carbs...And they work very awesome as to aftermarket BS and give you Mileage and dependability ...
