New here, but not to forums so I figured I'd just introduce myself. I just bought a 1958 GMC shortbed yesterday, going to pick it up some time next week aka drag it out of the field. I've searched alot but have not found an answer to my question, maybe someone knows or can point me in the right direction..
I have a 97 Dakota Shortbed 2wd that mechanically is perfect. I replaced the motor, clutch, new lowered suspension, new everything. My plan is to (after I take care of the body on the 58) swap the dakota chassis under the GMC. I checked and the wheelbases are 2" different and the track is about 1.5" different. My question is does anyone know the frame width on the 58 GMC/Chevy. or has anyone done anything similar to this? I can't find the width anywhere and the truck is all the way out in CT so I can't go just measure it. Ive already ordered my LMC and Brothers catalogs so I figure I got a little jump start.
