Howdy! Dad and son in Gilbert, AZ that just picked up a 1952 3100. We have no clue what we are doing but where there is a will there is a way. Found a great thread by Coach529 and gave me some confidence that we may be able to do this. Also joined up on the Stovebolt forum to get as much help as possible. I've seen a few other Zoners posts so hoping to get to know some locals. I'll post up some pics later, but just wanted to stick my toe in the water and to also thank Coach for the great job he did on his 3600. Ron and Ryan Gilbert, AZ
Thanks! I was following your posts too before signing up. Truck still needs quite a bit of attention (and new stuff seems to appear randomly!) but we are looking forward to it.
Thanks. I have definitely seen some worse ones but we still have quite a challenge ahead of us. Either way, it's cool just seeing it sitting in the garage. At least to my son and I. Wife has a slightly different view of it.
hopefully your wife will come around to liking it. mine went with me to look at my truck before I bought it and thought it was just cool. I bet yours will want to drive it when it's all done.
Better yet, my wife found our truck on CL and knew it was going to take $K's to get it back in shape.
I'll take you up on that one! Tried to teach her to drive a manual back when we were teens. That went over like a lead balloon.
welcome fron extreme southern AZ, deadzonetrickin aka mother trucker aka joe is the go to guy for parts on these trucks
Where can we get a list of the swap meets and shows? I'm aware of a swap meet this weekend over in Glendale. Going to try to hit it Sat morning on the way out to Luke.
Welcome to the message boards. Very cool truck. Looking forward to following the progress of your project. Keep the photos coming. Damon
I'm also starting a AD truck project - 49 GMC 1/2 ton. I'm located near you - just west of the I10 on Ray Road in Phoenix/Ahwatukee I bought this truck last August in parts. It spent its life in the desert near Blythe CA and seems to be pretty rust free - there's nothing in the cab corners but it looks like a leaky water heater took out part of the floor on the passenger side that I'll have to fix. The odometer shows 86K miles, but who knows. It is a basket case - no bed - going to need lots of parts. The chassis is set up for 67-72 truck and a SBC. Changing directions and will be using Jaguar suspension front and rear with a LSX and T5 (until I win the lottery and can afford a TKO or T56). I've had the doors and fenders dipped at a local stripper - cab should be stripped sometime this month. Still looking for a motor and gathering parts for starting a build this summer. Looking forward to the mutual help with others in Phoenix Phil
Will you be selling? If so, let me know how to find you. It will be myself, son and daughter walking around.
Congrats and thanks for the reply! I would welcome the opportunity to helping out. I actually bought my truck from a guy over on Elliot and 48th St. On the way back to his house, we talked to a guy that has one that looks to be near complete. Send me a pm if interested and I will let you know about where he lived.
