I have a 1950 3100 I am putting a T5 in I am having an issue with the alignment the dowels look to be 3/8 inch dia. Does anyone know if they make offset dowels that are 3/8 dia. I have a235 in the truck Thanks for any help you guys might be able to give. And if they sell them where tks
With the Hotrodworks adapter they say to drill the 4 mounting holes to 1/2". This may be the problem. Check my tech thread on this.
adaptor plate skitter check this out it may helphttp://www.langdonsstovebolt.com/parts-faqs/transmission-adapter-56-3001/
Im also doing the t5 conversion. I'm wondering what dowels your actually asking about. If your changing out a bell housing yes but to do the t5 you only need to drill out the holes to 1/2" and bolt the trans to the old bell. Other minor changes need to be made to the t5 input shaft but im sure you already got that handled.
If by dowel pins you mean some long bolts with the heads cut off to aid with alignment, you may have the wrong size...
Dowel pins What I should have explained is that there are 3/8 in dowel pins on my 235 engine With the old sm420 transmission it was not a issue that there was over .008 out of alignment issue but with the t 5 rebuilt it needs to be under .005 so I am trying to center it but I find no offset dowel pins of that diameter If the bell housing was not off It would have been a very easy process I can only hope the torque tube replacement will go easier. But thanks for all the feedback.
Summit Racing lists McLeod offset dowels in 3/8" by 1.25" Summit part number MCL-8707-22, 3/8" by 1" MCL-8707-21 and 3/8" x 3/4" MCL-8707-20. If they wont work a good machine shop should be able to make some for you.
