Did you ever take those pics?

Did you ever take those pics?

d.Nice to see it out there doing what it was made to do ! .
I love the Chevy II steering wheel & horn ring too .
Way back in the foggy recesses of my brain I seem to recall the Camper Specials had the GMC style rear leaf springs. Can't remember what the Custom Camper had. Chevy also had a Heavy Half which had the GMC suspension IIRC.
I've thought about it, but the last time I found them they were $$$pricey...and I still haven't taken the trip to any local swapmeets to find one to re-do...blah, blah...right?O.K. then ~ just go buy a 14" Chevy II wheel and slap it on ~ Generous Motors kindly used the very same spline across all lines for decades making custom mash ups dead simple and SAFE too .
I had no idea old Nova steering wheels were expensive .
I always wonder why folks cover the license tag with their finger when it's displayed every where you drive ....... ?? .
I've had mine since 84. I'm the second owner and it had 64,000 mi. on the clock when I purchased it. Had a 10' cabover camper on it and was all original! 327 4bbl, turbo 400, 4:56 posi., pwr steering, power brakes, factory a/c, chrome bumpets, custom cab. I paid $1,500 for it!! It overheated and cracked the block so I replaced the engine with a 383 stroker. Full roller motor w/ Dart heads, edelbrock SY-1 intake, 780 dbl pump Holley, Hooker headers, MSD ignition, custom built T400 w/Continental 2800 stall convertr, etc.. OMG, Pulls like a freight train!! Total sleeper! I removed the gas tank from behind the seat and had a stainless 22 gal tank made that sits between the frame rails in the back. Its now 2017 and its time to do a frame off resto and paint. Four corner disc brakes and modern pwr steering are on the list along with vintage air a/c/ heat upgrade.Hey all, I am interested in finding out who else may have one of these old workhorses. I've known this truck since it was new, and I've personally only seen one other badged *Custom Camper*, but that one was in a yard and it was originally a 4-speed.
I know the production numbers were low on this option, just over 9,000 made from a total of around 500,000 built. Here's a photo.
327 4-bbl, (high-torque,solid lifters) 3-speed automatic (400 turbohydromatic, first year offered) power steering (drag-link style) power brakes (2.250 wide shoes) custom cab (alas, small back window, but with chrome trims) heavy-duty radiator, (4 pass), posi-track (4:11), deluxe heater, 4-way flashers. Non-air, but that was probably due to being built in Fremont, CA., who needs air in So.Cal? ha ha. I've done some mods to it as well, but not that you can see from the outside. Replaced the split rims for starters...I had to learn how to change a tire on them when I was a boy. One word... DANGEROUS! Its' also running on a '74 GMC frontend, with integral power steering and big disc brakes, and I swapped out the rear from the same jimmy, its' still posi but with an easier 3:73 gear.
Thanks for reading this gob, let me know what you think and we can chat it up about these ol' pinchwaists~
