Trying to replace the tailgate on our 49 Chevy truck. I'm seeing a lot of prices and tailgates, some had fitment issues and the quality is suspect. Anybody have any first hand knowledge? Any help would be great. Thanks, Terry

Welcome aboard!
I'll sub for Zig, who will undoubtedly ask for pictures of your ride, and the backstory as well.
Assuming you are diligently coming up with said pictures, and supporting backstory,
TAILGATES: A used one probably isn't in the cards, as these trucks are TRUCKS, and have been treated as such. Which leads us to which aftermarket item to consider. I don't know who's tailgate our host currently offers, but I can say I have seen excellent results with MAR-K products. Made right here in the U S A, and when I bought mine (a complete bed actually) the price was VERY competitive with the offshore offerings.
