Installed an Autometer speedo in my 55. Got the speed calibrated but the odometer reads 8999 miles???. Did some research and from everything I have read there is no way to reset it. Federal law dictates that is tampering.

    Federal Law.?
I doubt theres a Fedrerale Gestapo patrolling the garages in Klein Texas, or anywhere for that matter.
Id set the speedo where you want it and roll on! A lot worse (or better) happens in garages all over the country, without a second thought.
    Or at least around here......

It's an electronic speedo. Kind of hard to reset without the right sequence
