How do I find out which series our truck is? It is a 1954 Chevy pick up truck 3100. We are looking into an outside sun visor and thought the 54 was part of the second series but this doesn't seem to be the case?
The series is in the case of a model year being split with two designs in the same year. 55 1st series used the 54 body style with an emblem change and an open driveline. 55 2nd series was the later more squared off body design. Your 54 is not a split year but the visor I believe is 54 and 55 1st only.
All you needs know is : Do you have a two piece windshield with a divider or not ? . If two pieces of glass you'll need the 1947 ~ 1954.1 visor .
And, there you go . My old worn out mind no longer remembers important details like this . The 1955.2 has a dog leg windshield as it's a "Task Force" truck not an Advance Design like the 1954 & 1955.1 .
Yep! Nate you have no idea how much I wrestled with myself calling into question your statement. I am a fan of your "been there, done that" knowledge.
Sorry Greg ; The years seem to be catching me up of late =8-( . At least I'm still driving a stick shift base model shop truck.... I drove it to Nevada last week and down Titus Canyon (look it up) where quite a few young bucks came by in their new jacked up 4X4 trucks with shovels, winches and other unnecessary crap ~ almost every one said 'I didn't know little pickups like came with four wheel drive'and got pissed off when I said "it doesn't ~ it's the cheapest truck made , 4X4 isn't necessary on this road" . Still spinning wrenches and riding my Motos too = .
If you ask our host for a free PAPER catalog it has a very good year identification and description on one of the first pages. May do so online also but that is above my skill level.
