What rims can I replace these split rims with? The lugs are much larger than normal. Also can anyone decode the serial number: 253-22-S-2884 What year is it? Is this a 1 ton or 1 1/2ton? What motor is in it? (plate says 90hp)
25x is a 1 ton. The x being a 3 is a means a 137" wheelbase. The 22 signifies a 228 cubic inch engine. The S signifies the Saint Louis plant. Chassis number 2884 puts your truck in the middle of 1952 production which was 2235 through 3104.
thank you for all the info! we close by! I'm in luling TX! found the truck in Somerset! Any idea of rims that will work on it?
All the plates say Pontiac Michigan USA. That is where corporate headquarters was. The "where built" letter in the chassis serial number would be P for Pontiac Michigan, S for St. Louis Missouri or C for California (which was actually Oakland California). My GUESS on why C instead of O is that O might be interpreted as a zero.
Are you hoping to retain the dual rear wheels ? . What size tires are on it now ? . Is this an ex fire truck that was converted to a pump/spray rig or what ? .
