Any ever changed a front windshield before,I know a person would need help possible 3 people just wondering if its very hard to do later on I plan on changing my Sons 1966 c10 longbed front windshield with the parts truck windshield.
I pulled mine out when I restored it, but I had an auto glass place put it back in. Its easy to pull all the weather stripping. After that just get you and your boy to carry it over the hood.
I'd recommend that approach too. Get a professional to do the installation. Why ? If it leaks, THEY have to fix it. If they break it, THEY will need to get a replacement piece. It's not impossible to do yourself, just a pain to do it correctly so that there are no leaks. You should go over the mounting flange on the cab carefully and remove all traces of sealant, rubber, and rust, and then straighten out any dented areas before handing it over to the installer. DVal
windshield My Son & I are going to take it out & put it back in ourselfs ,cant drive it to the window place no motor or transmission in the truck yet, not unless we flintstone it
Afer the old windshield is out, and the mounting flange is cleaned and prepared, ( primer on those areas where rust was removed), locate the Centerline of the cab. On my 64 the centerline was marked at the factory with a small, semi-circle, notch cut out of the lower flange. Extend that centerline out onto the cab area, top and bottom with masking tape and mark the exact centerline on the tape. THEN, find the centerline of the windshield. Measure, measure and measure again. Once again, use tape to mark the general centerline, then mark the exact centerline on the tape. The tape makes it easier to target the approximate center of the truck and the marks on the tape will get you all the way home. DVal
Get her running first then change the windshield. I ruined a brand new seal trying to do it myself. After all the cursing and yelling was over I still did not have my back window in and a tore up seal. $60.00 and a new seal later it was installed the easy way. I took it to the glass shop.
