I have a 1950 Chevy 5-window pick-up and I can't determine where the parking brake spring goes. I believe it goes on the pivot shaft in the middle of the truck, but I just can't find the right place. Can anyone help? Thanks, TK
The rod under the truck should have a tab with a hole in it, the spring with a wire extention hooks to the frame crossmember. BTW welcome. Chris
HeyTK On the pivot bar, just left of the torque tube is a tab with a hole in it. That's where the spring attaches. I just posted a picture in the member gallery that should show it. BTW, welcome to the group!
Kens 50 55-59 fallout.... The rod I'm refering to is the small diameter (5/16) that hooks to the emergency foot pedel to the large solid shaft that hooks the left and right side brake cables. I think the spring hooks to the crossmember below the back of the cab
Chris, i think you're right. Right now, my spring is the only thing that's keeping the box holding all of that stuff from falling apart!
Thanks for the help. I believe I can figure it out. I believe I remember the tab on the small rod connecting the foot pedal to the cross-shaft. If not the cross-shaft to the bedcross-member will work. Thanks for the help, I'm about ready to turn the key. Tom Kirkland
