Thanx guys ~ last night was a real b*tch ~ no sleep atall , I couldn't even find a comfy position to lie still in so I gave up around 03:00 and got up , drove to the shop and turned the radio on to NPR (a GREAT soporific ) then I was able to catcha few winks sitting up in the car.... This sux but monday is my big day , I am actually looking forward to having needles jammed in my neck Some folks are afraid of mice or druggies with guns (lotta them where I live) but I am totally askeert of bees & NEEDLES I hate it when I'm driving out in the hills and a bee or wasp comes in the window and lights on me ~ I gotta let go the steering wheel and beat at it (more like flail) untill its D-E-D , dead .
Soporific Nate, I will add you to my prayer list as well. I am paying now for abuses to my body years ago but nothing as bad as what you have. Hang in there. BTW, thanks for my word of the day, soporific. I listen to NPR regularly, Car Talk and the occasional liberal view to offset my hero, Rush Limbaugh. Anyway, now that I know what soporific means, I will always think of it when I happen to tune in to Democracy Now on NPR. Gater
Sleep & Soporifics LOL ! When you have Tinnitis as loud as freight trains ringing in your ears all the time , you learn to adjust , I've been needing " white noise " to fall asleep since my teens . TIP : buy and use some decent earplugs when you're working around or operating machinery , esp. Motocycles .

Nate,I didn't get in on this whole thread,but my aunt has been taking treatments where they inject some kind of material into her spine to rebuild her discs. Many years of cortisone/prednisone (she has MS) have taken a toll on her. I haven't seen her since May,I'll have to get an update on her progress. Good luck to you,oh master of old trucks!
I'm Back On Track ! ( I hope !) THANX , All ! all your kind words really helped as the Dr had been concentrating on how badly this could go and not to expect too much relief , etc. plus he seemed....arrogent in the pre - op screening procedure but to-day every one was nice as pie . I aksed to go to sleep but they said " no can do " ~ I was face down and they were mucking about doing this and that , asking me if I was O.K. etc. , eventually I guess I sort of fell asleep as I could still hear them rattling 'round and then some one touched my shoulder and said " O.K. you're all done now " ~ I never felt a pin prick . # 1 Son had to drive me home , they wouldn't let me drive (sneaked in an hour long Moto ride this afternoon after my nap tho' ) I've been hanging 'round the house all day and if I get some sleep to-night (I feel better) it's back to work to-morrow and a driveline job on my Mercedes wednesday evening... I have several 87+ year old WWII buddies who have this done every 1-1/2 to 2 years to good effect . the Dr. says I can have it 3 X a year but one of my mechanics had to retire as they shot his wrecked knee so full of Cortisone it turned to mush so he had to wear a brace untill he died suddenly this winter. I'm not hurrying to have them shoot me full of ANY kind of dope . -Nate

Oh , YEAH ! YA-HOO ! -6_ whole uninterrupted hours of sleep last night I am jazzed , if this keep on my life will be good again . I still have some pain but I've had constant pain since childhood so no biggie . I am now looking forward to getting back to work , lotts projects to catch up on .
