hey ken. i think either way is correct. there wasn't much of a standard when it came to mounting accesories on these old beasts. i've seen it done both ways.

The standard one is what you've got , the dual ' snail ' typ ones were an upgrade option either dealer or factory fitted .

Oddly enough , the snail typ were usually mounted on the firewall so the driver would hear it toot just as loudly as the guy in the rusty Buick who just cut you off did....

Proper fittment is on the outside of the radiator core support , trumpets facing _down_ .

Those intake manifold ones are getting harder to find so don't just toss it in the scrap pile ~ I love horns , all kindsa horns .

FWIW , buying the inexpensive re-pop owner's handbook , factory shop manual and acessory installation manual will give you GREAT pix of all this and so much more .

My one is in the centre of my steering wheel, seems silly to have to get out the truck and lifk the hood to use the horn

    Just So :

The horn is under the Bonnet but snail horns are mounted on The Scuttle....

Proper tootling prevents pranged wings....

    GOOD NIGHT NURSE! :D

Should you be saying things like this on a family-oriented web site, Nate?

    Speaking Of ' Tootling '........

Shirley brought me home a bucket of chili loaded up with freshly diced onions and grated cheese.......

No fool she : this all happened around 9:30 PM so I slept quietly but the guys at the shop all suffered the next day , by the time I saw her next , I was all Tootled out :p

You know, my wife just doesn't see the humor in tootling, but right now I'm rollin' thinkin' about "Nate's Wonderful Day"! You just know God made some foods just for men!!!

    Hey brit

I should say, in Kansas we say "Excuse me..." for tootling~ Sleeping with someone's wife would be, "I feel your pain"!
