Bit of a story to this so I will be quick, wet and windy weekend and I was bored working in the garage all day so decided to have some fun, Nate style! trouble was the missus came home just as i was getting started so I had to use the portable one, with a little help from some dirty paint thinners:eek: things got going quick, got it nice and hot so I got cooking, it was getting darker out which just made it look better and after a while it was popping and smoking and the occasional flame would lick out the tube, I had my feet up with a cold one and it reminded me of when I was younger watchin a RR Merlin engine firing up, the popping and flames etc it was great, had the cover on at the start and it looked like it was enjoying a nice fat cigar, or maybe, just maybe I had just one too many:eek:

Anyway, it worked a treat, banged out and sucked the dust out and with a touch of paint it will be good as new, I might have a go at fitting a hidden pcv in it before i fit it back on the truck;) Nate just love your old school ideas, you the man:cool:

Anyway , good thing it worked out for you .AC usta did make an oil filler cap with a rubber PVC grommet in the middle of it , problem there is : it might suck dust in through the open tube .

I was going to slip a freeze plug or something similar up the end of the tube and seal it off if i go the pcv route, just try and keep it looking standard.

Yard work????????? you crazy? thats womans work, anyway the trucks in the yard and has been for a year (not a popular subject i might add) dont want the yard looking too good or it will be obvious when i bury the missus out there! forward thinking old chap, forward thinking.

Talking of missus, thats what the hammers for, case she came out while i was 'cooking'

'Maybe re-do it showing a larger bbq'................. OK Nate you wanna go down the 'mines bigger than yours' route? bring it on fella, bring it on!

    " Yard Work "

Yard work needn't be woman's work , just yesterday I had a day off so naturally I spent the entirety of it working on my old Mercedes Diesel Coupe , fixing this 'n that plus I removed 2/3 of the interior and cleaned the grotty black yuk off the driver's seat , door panels and carpets , it looked like the DPO worked in a junkayrd but now it's all squeky clean AND the passenger side window works and so on....

T'was a nice day , both my pups lying 'round keeping me company and occasionally getting up to come demand a belly rub :)

All in all , a good day .

I suppose I should attack the weeds one of these days but they're only just now reching my waist and the pups seems to like running through them plus I'm sure he drunken pycho-bitch next door is prolly grinding her teeth because of them..... :D

You call that a Barby? Wait...just waaaiiiit. You asked for it with all your snide and unkind comments. ONE moment...ONE incident of a lapse of mental concentration and what happens with you guys? I have yet to live it down. So...now you will all have to wait for the next installment of Bar-B-Que madness. I promise you all you won't be disappointed. I will be taking orders for road draft tube cleaning and restoration as well as breather cap cleaning and restoration only if you're NICE.:D

Andy did you take a European vacation to go see Brit and not tell anyone? Did you show him the proper way to install the transmission while you were over there? :D

    Just kidding with you guys.

I didn't see any road draft tubes getting smoked while on the ship this past week but I did smell some very fine cuban cigars while walking around the deck at night. I also took a picture of a very cool 54 while in grand caymon islands. I'll post a picture as soon as I get them all downloaded later on. Good to be back hanging out with you guys.

I can see that size definitely counts in this forum. I'll have to dig up the road draft tube from my '57 GMC V8 and post a picture. Or is this conversation limited to ADs?
