Zig, do me a favor! Take your digital camera out tomorrow and take a couple of pics of the back end of your truck. I just want to see if the back side looks as good as the front side. Personally, I love the GMC tailgates with that classic looking script lettering!
I'll do 'er! Before I forget how to post pictures again! You wont be able to see it, even with the unreal detail you can see when you hit "view larger image", but IF YOU COULD, the gate would show where the moss had been painted right over! I used, of all things, a dremel (sp?) tool with a cutting blade. I cut off the welded on spare tire holder. Ground the remaining welds down to nothing. Unfortunately, I couldn't/can't do ANYTHING for the hole in the running board that was under the piece the yayho had welded on. Apparently, that space held water nicely... passenger side running board for a 3/4 anyone? Beat up a tad is fine, I'd just like to avoid HOLES!!!! Later big guy!
How about pics from the side so it will look like a CHEVY. Just kiddin. So is the 3/4 ton running boards different from the 1/2 ton. I'm going to a rather large show this weekend with a great swap meet and I'll look for ya.
I'll get two birds with one stone. Kevin~ ask brit what happens when you go bad-mouthing a GMC. brit- just a reminder. (I do hope your pain is under control?)
Hey there Mr. Stardust, Here's a link for your running boards. It's a pair of them and don't know how much you want to spend, but I have dealt with this guy as I am sure have many others and he's okay. Andy http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CHEV...yZ140709QQihZ019QQitemZ290132041217QQtcZphoto
Thanks, Andy I really just need the passenger side, so I'd best check with my parts guy in Oklahoma. If he doesn't have one, that looks like a good deal for two. Thanks! Looking through all the other parts he has, I noticed a nice draft tube!
You mean like this? Hanging out with you AD guys is a lot more fun than being over on the TF message board where I'm supposed to be.
Exactly, Bill! That's it. You know, if we really want to drive Zig crazy, post a picture of the inside of your tailgate! Zig will be all over that!!
rear roll pan Bill Hanlon, I've been looking for a rear roll pan with lights opening cut out. Do you know where I could locate one of these. Thanks Les
Here ya go, Ken~ I thought you might have to click on the image to make it big enough to see the painted-over moss that was going on the truck when they painted it- but you don't. https://talk.classicparts.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=560&ppuser=5676 NICE TRUCK BILL!!!
Zig, now that your so pic posting smart--how the heck do you get two pictures on so one click shows them both? Here's a 51 tailgate, sorry no moss.
Tailgate Fun I'm still trying to remember to post the puller pic but , On the inside of my '49s tailgate , in the embossed letters , is a glob of cement from some long ago job and when the DPO had it painted , they sprayed the gloss white right on over it.... Such is the life of work trucks , nothing new under the sun it seems . My Hijo fell off a Semi @ his work tuesday morning so I bailed out to take him to the Dr. and baby sat him yesterday so he'd be still and let it begin to heal . He's fine , thank God , gave me quite a scare .
Mine is NOT cut out, but does have indented areas for the lenses and lamp sockets. The bottom of the indented areas had holes cut out for twist-in lamp sockets. It came with a wiring harness with the sockets already connected. Mine is fiberglass. Can't remember the name of the company I bought it from, but I think I have the receipt at home. I'm in Austin until at least tomorrow.
Now THAT's pretty! What a beautiful (backend) Evan! I am amazed at how well that bumper goes with the look! What's it off of? (the bumper, that is) I haven't devoted too much think time to it, but I'll need a hitch. That kind of bumper would do it. I assume you did some custom metal work to get it to fasten up? Hopefully saved the drawings? Anyway~ cool picture- GREAT truck! By the way... The multiple pictures is more of an error, than intentional. I got my disc back from WalMart, down loaded the photos, thought, "How the heck am I gonna get these from my laptop to here, saw I could make an page of photos, did that, put them in a folder, (I think) got on this site, hit attachments, found the page, uploaded it. The first page was just small enough to make the 300whatevers it allows to post. I tried like all getout to do the others, but they kept coming up @ 32 to 45 whatevers to much! The ones that you click on the www. site, are ones taken with my camera that has bigtime resolution. Each picture seems to be about 600 whatevers. I don't know why we have unlimited space in the gallery, but are only allowed 300 whatevers in this format. Anyway- That truck is be-a-ut-iful! I assume the twin pipes are signs of an eight? If it's a six with split exhaust, got any pictures of that? Thanks for letting me see how purty my truck will look when it's done!
great pic Well gotta admit that that is definately the best view of a G*C........ Driving away ________ Toyota pod
Hey Les, How about some pics of your truck. It has got to be coming along really nicely by now. I am sure the guys on this board will be all "ooohs and aaahhhs" when they get a load of the quality workmanship you do. Your 235 is coming along really nicely. The boys have been spending the week taking all the accessories off of it and degreasing it in preparation for painting it. They also put on the new water pump and conversion plate (lots of help from Dad on that one). All the kids have also finished prepping and painting the frame. Getting ready to fire up the engine real soon. Hope you have been looking at the pics on the members gallery. Seriously, post some pics of your truck for us. Andy
Never found the invoice, but I looked in an old Classic Trucks magazine from about the time that I bought mine and found the place. It was East Coast Customs, Inc. in Maryville, Tn. 615-983-9091. That was 9 years ago, so I'm not sure they are still there.
