K- I'm miles from putting my axle back in, and when I do, I'll go with the disk conversion up front. I can get the 5 or 6 lug style. My new back end would love to be six lug, so I could reuse my original rims. My question is, are all GM 6 lug patterns the same? Are all 5 lug GM patterns the same?
Thanks in advance for your insight into this matter.

    Need To Figure Out

What you're going to do with it ~ work , use 16" , play or hobby truck , you'll have more non stock choises with 15" wheels .

I'd say stick with 16" one piece rims and use radial LT truck tires .

    You forgot "maybe"

    Okay, Bill~ So that is

Yes, GM 6 lug bolt pattern is the same no matter if the wheel is brand spankin' new, or the old 6 lug wheel off my truck.

    And then

No, GM wheels had different 5 lug patterns throughout the years. (Not all 5 lug wheels will go on any 5 lug hub.)

If I'm correct, a simple "yes" will do.

    simple yes

Given reasonably small trucks (and if I remember right some GM cars of the 40s) the 6 lug bolt pattern is on a 5.5" circle, commonly referred to as 6x5.5.

There are probably others, but common sizes for 5 bolt wheels are 5x4.5, 5x4.75 and 5x5.

    Thanks, Bill!

One of these days I'll get around to looking for my new back end. I'm just glad that a modern GM will work. I really want to use my standard 16" rims with those tall, wide whitewalls... Diamondbacks...
Hey, a guy can dream, right?
