Newbie here. Can anyone help me with correct motor mount bolts for a 49 half ton? Mine has been heavily "farmerized" when the 235 was put in. The only bolt that I believe is correct is a carriage bolt,3/8 24 with a castellated nut in the front motor mount. Are the rear bolts that hold the mounts to the cross member 7/16 or 1/2? Fine or coarse thread? I'm bringing it back to stock except for the pressure 235. Thanks for your help.

IIRC they are 7/16" regular thread on my '54. They bolt through the cross member and metal sleeves in the rear mounts into the bell housing so it should be easy to check what thread yours are by checking the bell housing if it is the same setup.

    Rear Motor Mount Bolts

Since you'll be using the same bell housing with 216 or 235 , just have a look to ensure the bolts are all there ~ the vertical bolt is often gone missing on the rear , side motor mounts . there's also a tube shaped spacer in the center of the mount the bolt goes through , this is often missing , I know last year (?) someone posted about these side mounts and a picture and source for them was found ~ they're actually fairly important although the impressive weight of the engine & tranny often hold it against the frame even when the vertical bolts have gone missing...

Look in the older posts .
