Hard. Don't do it. If it's like the dash on my '55.1, it is welded to the cab. Not easily removed. Crawl on your back like the rest of us:D. You're kinda close to me, I think. Maybe I could take a cruise by you sometime so we could meet up? How far are you from Monclair area? I'm in that neck of the woods fairly frequently. Of course, cruising to see you in my truck could take a while as it has the original driveline in it and doesn't do more than 45-50 MPH with the engine screaming:eek:.

Hahaha sorry but that just made me laugh out loud. My old 66 Mustang was like that with a 200 inline 6. With my Chevy's set up I can do 50 mph in 1st gear and light up the tires when shifting 2nd at 50.

Anyway on topic. I found its easier to get up under the dash when the seat is out of the truck. So much room.

So if you havent painted the inside of the cab yet just wait to paint under the dash until you do the rest of the cab with the seat(s) out.

    dash removal

i removed mine and your looking at at least a 4 hour time period just drilling out the spot welds without tearing it all too hell!
youll have to remove the front windshield and the window trim and reove any brackets that hold the steering column and dash supports. Good luck!

As mentioned it's a bear to remove as it's welded in place .

Smart thing to do is : paint it off white underneath then finish painting the rest of the truck and anytime you're underneath it working , the off white will make the job oh so much easier and no one will ever notice.....

    Wiring

I just completed a rewiring on my 53, here's what I did, remove seat to make room, remove headlite switch, ignition and gauge cluster ( speedo does not need to remove ) then you can rewire everything with it hanging below dash, do not reinstall till tested. It wasn't bad, but I cussed a lot tryin to do it up under dash
    Good luck

I took out the seat and unbolted the brake and clutch pedals and rods from the arms in the engine compartment and removed them as well, laid down some thick carpet scraps and had at it. Really wasn't that bad with the pedals removed. After all, there really isn't much to wiring one of these things up. The entire under dash took me about 3 hours. Headlight switch was done while it was hanging and I was kneeling next to truck on floor. Ignition switch was done hanging under the dash. Only had to lay on my back for the guage cluster. Really not that bad.
