    Welcome Shade Slanger!

All '47-53 AD trucks came from the factory with a 5 bar grille. The bars got progressively longer with the shortest on top. Here's a couple of shots of the grille I put in my '50.

I thought he was talking about places to get adult beverages, but then again I don't own an AD.

    grille bars

:)All 47 to 53 grilles came from factory with 5 bars. each bar is notched on inside so you get the right bar mounted correctly (top bar one notch , second bar two notches etc.)

This one is just a shameless plug to show off my "best Under Construction" Trophy.

    Grille Bar Notches

I've never taken a grille apart ~ any chance of pictures to show exectly where these notches are ? .

I see lots of loose grille bars @ swap meets .

    Why not show off?

My daughter is snuggled up next to me while I'm going through these and said, "Wow! Nice truck, dad!"
Sweet~ I guess you got her vote too!

When I get back from my two week vacation Michigan I'll have to take apart my old grill and take a look see. I'll post pictures when I do.

Thanks. I really love this truck. I've had a 1970 dodge Charger and a 1966 Mustang in the past and am having more fun with this truck.
It'll stay in the family for a long long time.

Sorry for late reply, I was out of town for a few days.
The sample I have included shows : Top bar no notches, second bar two notches, third bar three notches, fourth bar four notches and bottom bar one notch.

Here's old Evan again trying to claim the biggest fish. This 48 does have SIX bars, one bottom bar right side up and one upside down and welded to it. This nose dragger doesn't have a bumper so the extra bar was added to give a smooth finish.

    grille bar notches

Here are some better pics of bar notches. I always check notches when I buy bars at swap meets.

    Cancel this thread!!

Every time I see, "4 bars VS 5 bars" I get dang thirsty!

    Are there ever ENOUGH bars???

I'm going to remove ALL the bars from my grill, JUST so I can keep from thinking about bars and grills!!!!

    There I go thinking again...
