Hi guys, What type of glue is used to install the cowl vent rubber seal? Same as the door weatherstrip? Andy
Gorilla snot I am familiar with the term but unfamiliar with the product. Does it have a "real" name??? Andy
Not to be confused with Gorilla Glue Here's a link to it www.3m.com/Product/Information/Super-Weatherstrip-Adhesive.html
3M Gorilla Snot Notice it comes in black and yellow , you want the yellow stuff as it sticks better and lasts forever...
In the airplane or aviation industry we use 3M 1300L it is the yellow stuff I think Nate was refering to We usually dilute it with toluene or MEK 1-1 or 50 50 how ever you want to say it then apply two of these thinned coats to each surface after each prior coat dries. After the second coat dires we wet or really Dampen a rag with either the MEK or Toluene and activate the stuff a little ata time working the seal into place this technique works pretty good but becareful once you reactivate and touch the two together they will not come apart with out taking the paint or teh rubber apart oh also we mask the area we dont want teh glue to be on just makes clean up easier and application faster as you dont have to be as neat with your brush Bill
So I can assume you used Gorilla snot on your truck? No doubt I will since I'm here in the "Home of the Gorillas!"
I haven't used it on my truck yet but that was the plan for the door seals though I have never heard of it coming in black as Nate suggested? Bill
Home of the Gorillas Zig, I know you're probably on a budget, but you're not going to try to extract it yourself are you? I want some pictures! Bob
