    Robert, I looked back at some of your other posts, and I see that you probably got the #1 cyl on TDC, and looks like VWNATE steered you on the correct firing order..... One thing I do a lot just to prove if the problem is fuel or electrical is add a little fuel, about a tablespoon, down the throat of the carb and then crank it. If it fires when you crank it over then, you probably have a fuel delivery problem. If it doesn't fire then, you almost certainly have an ignition problem. The four things always required to make an internal combustion engine run are: fuel, ignition, compression, and the proper timing of the other three. Hope this helps.

    No Start

    Robert ;

    It's difficult to diagnose a no start over the 'phone (so to speak) but we're out here for you ~ I have this same problem occasionally and it's always some little thing I was sure I had checked , or done allready .

    Keep at it , don't get riled , take a break when it's too hot , you'll get there in time .

    Starter?

    rebuilt 6vlt starter on a 12vlt set up and its crap? should spin over faster than a G taking a corner at over 20mph!!! have you checked the earth cables from battery to chassis and engine to chassis? maybe theres a bad earth soaking up all them amps.

    6v starter

    i have to try what nate said slide the solinoid because the starter gear sounds realy bad when cranking.maybe starter gear is not making full contact.

    Starter Noise

    If thwe starter is cranking the engine but making terrible noise as it's doing so , you have the wrong starter in there ! I assume you exchanged the starter ? did it crank quieter before the rebuild ? or has it always been noisy ? .

    If you count the teeth on the ring gear , that'll tell you is the flywheel is a 6 or 12 volt one , they're different .

    Maybe they sold you the wrong one...

    I hope you remembered my advice to never turn in a core until the job is done .
