I bought a rattle can of rust-oleum hammered brown paint today at lowe's it is amazingly the same color GM put in the cab of my long lost 1941 half ton truck. From what i understand that same color was used on the heaters in the 47 to 53 pickups. If any body else sees it and agrees let me know thanks.

I believe I found the the heater paint info on the Stovebolt site. Hammerite Bronze Hammered Metal Finish. I couldn't find it locally, so I contacted the manufacturer and bought it from Merit Supply, Houston, TX for $6.09 + shipping. It was a very close match to the original color under the heater emblem.
