hey guys this is my first forum and i was wondering what size cam should i get for my 305 to get a nice sound and some more horsepower
Best Came to used I have built over 35 Chevy, Engines. From 1200 RPM to 4800 RPM. The Best Came Is The Comp 268. If You want more med range to top end, the 270 Comp. Is Real Good. I have a 58 Chevy.PU I put the body on a 1988 3/4 ton. 4/4 Sub. frame. . I put a 1992 305 Eng.In it & I used the 268 Comp.Came It works real good, If that helps. Another Chevy. yeah thanks i know everyone hates the 305s but its all i have at the moment so im going to make it as good as i can i plan on dropping a 350 in it. im sixteen and this is my first car so yeah and by the way it has a edelbrock intake and i think the stock quadrajet carb.
what other parts will i need to install the cam please tell me what other parts i will need to install the cam properly thnx
I would put new lifter, timming chain, Cam lube for sure. If you got a duel plain edelbrock intake that good. The other listed cams would work too.
ok, first for the nice sound....get some 40 series flowmaster mufflers. second for "power", id save my money and buy a rebuilt long block 350. if your 16, then youve got 2 gooood yrs. to "HAVE" to drive what you got. give it a little time, keep everything else in good running order, and put a 350 in her. i had a 305 all stock w/ 40 series flowmasters on it, and it sounded bad ass!, but being a 305 it had absolutely NO power...your not gonna get that from a 305 no matter how much $$ you put into it. sorry kiddo... g.t.
