Hey Guys, Has anyone changed a backup light switch on a 3 on the tree? Do you have to take the column apart? Where exactly is the switch mounted? Thanks Oz
ok, i believe the switch is screwed into the side of the tranny. look for green wires going to the tranny and youll find the switch. correct me if im wrong, i might be thinking of a floor shift tranny.
Oz: If you are running a factory colunm shift 3-speed manual transmission, the reverse light switch is on the lower portion of the column, near the floor board, facing down. It is similar to the neutral safety switch on the factory automatic steering columns. If I remember correctly, there are two wires feeding this switch...a dark green and a light green, that feed the reverse lights. There is a small pin that projects out of the switch, into the column mast jacket and it is rather fragile. If it is there, remove the two screws, that secure it to the mast jacket and inspect it. If the pin is in place and sliding back and forth freely, trace your wiring for problems. If it is not there, you can purchase them from the web host and trouble-shoot from there. Good luck with your project.
LILRED, Buddy you know your stuff, exactly where you said it would be., of course its amazing how many times i stuck my head under there while stripping the floor and adjusting the clutch pedal etc and never noticed it under many coats of black paint Thanks everyone for the help...
