I think we are going to need some more specifics on that tranny in oder to answer your question. some pics of the unit and any numbers you can find on it would be very helpful. Otherwise I don't think anyone on here can answer your question.

Most GM slushboxes should bolt up, however, the length of the input shaft is the deciding factor. Take lots of measurements and check the tip of the input shaft to make shure it will fit into your guide bearing in the flywheel. Also check that the splines will work with your clutch, otherwise you will need to kit bash clutch parts to get everything to work.

Above question is key-- what are you trying to gain by using the 4 speed? 1 st gear in the 4 sp. is a granny gear that you will VERY seldom use unless you are overloading the truck. 4 th gear is the same as 3rd in the 3 speed tranny so you don't gain anything there-- so if your 3 speed is ok, the change hardly seems worth the effort. You could stow the 4 in case the 3 speed finally goes bad--

Just wanting the 4 sped for looks really. I will be getting rid of the column in a future upgrade, so the 3 on the tree will be going away. If I had the 4 in the floor know I could still drive the truck while figuring out the steering upgrade. I'm going to try and put rack and pinion steering on the straight axle. Why you may wonder. Cuz I have 3 good racks laying around from mustangs and P/S pumps too. Soory to all of you hard core restorer guys. This is a weekend hobby truck for me. Once done it will be driven everyday, so it's a work in progress. Keepsa my wife happy that I'm at home and keeps me happy tinkering on this truck.

Someone (not CPP, I just scanned their web site) is making a rack-on-an-Ibeam kit. Article was in one of the old truck mags a few years ago. Might be worth finding and reading before you get started.

This is what I had found. I would like to do it without power. Very hard to get a pump mounted on 216 or 235 engine. My HHR has electric steering, trying to find a wrecked one for some look see. Flamming river sells a electric pump for 4 grand. These are out there you just have to figure it out. I'm trying.

    Last Time I Checked ,

    Slushboxes don't have manual clutches.....

If you've found an old Muncie 4 speed with the enclosed U-Joint , yes it should bolt up and fit .

It's unclear if there's a different U-joint splines count on the heavier duty
SM420 tranny , some books say yes , some say no.....

    I seem to recall they're the same for 1/2 & 3/4 ton rigs .
