How do I get the floor shifter out of the cab? It looks like there are five bolts next to the shifter. Do I need to take those out? How hard is it to get It back in there? Once i can get the shifter out the cab can come off finally.

    A little pain.

I is a pain---in the butt. It's not to difficult to do but they do make a special tool to get the shifter out. I got it out myself but if you can can get some help to push down on the top of the shifter cover at the tranny, turn the top a quarter to the left. It's a latch. If you push it down enough, it comes right out.

Easiest way is to remove the entire shifter and top cover of the 4-speed as a unit. Unbolt the cover and it will pop right off with no problem at all. Make sure to fabricate a tranny cover (I used cardboard) and bolt it into place to prevent any nasty bits from falling into the tranny when removing the cab or otherwise. Just taking the shifter out of the cover is a pain in the you-know-what.

    Andy knows

Take it from Andy, unbolt the tranny lid. Make a temporary cover. Take off the whole tranny top shifter and all. Much simpler than pulling the shifter if the shifter doesn't have a bunch of slack.

When I first bought my 54 you could slip the floor shifter out of the tranny while you were driving it!

I have good luck by wiping the spring loaded cup at the base of the shifter with a rag wet with laquer thinner till it's clean and dry and then using a jar lid remover to give some traction. It's never rusty do to it's location. Takes just a few seconds but making up a story to tell my wife about the nickel sized holes in the middle of her jar lid remover pads takes a bit longer.

    Maybe it's a G thing...

If you are talking about just taking the shift lever out so you can move the cab, mine came out with no problems. (Once I reread the manual on how it was suppose to come out...) It's really a simple idea, and once you have that out, you're good to go!
    Good luck!
