I took Thunder to the 25th annual Spindeltop Rod Run in Nederland today. he is a bit out of place there, but the rodders always kinda appreciate the old trucks. They had an inspector there doing 23 point NSRA safety inspections. I caught the inspector eyeing my truck, and we got into a conversation, he offerred to inspect my truck. I thought is was pretty cool, Thunder now sports a 2009 NSRA Safety Inspection Decal on the passenger vent window. Thunder may be the slowest inspected "street rod" ever! Fun for me. Jim
There is no way that your truck was overlooked by any means!!! These trucks are too cool There is nothing better then these trucks
I enjoy the rod runs My truck get a bunch of attehtion from folks at he rod run, just no way to win a prize. In a 100 car field, the AD is one of likely 20 vehicles w/o a small block Chevy V ate. Most of these are in kt cars, or other make cars than Chevys. My 235 gets lots of looks, some folks even scratch their heads. One lady who saw my truck from a distance, and was not attending the show, trotted across the parking lot and practically clmbed in my truck at the show. She was grinnin like she just won a prize. She asked me if the truck was mine, then commenced to tell me hoe she learend to drive her Grandpa's truck just like this one on his farm when she was a girl. She had so much fun in it until she took a line of fence posts out with it. Just having someone enjoy your truck for a moment can make a trip to a show worthwhile. She went away smiling. Someone always wants to tell a story about these AD trucks, they make folks smile, and we owe it to America to show everyone what wonderful machines our dads and granddads were building in their heyday. Most everyone likes these trucks almost as much as we do. If I had wanted my truck to be a hot rod, I could have slipped in a small block V ate crate motor and likely saved some change over what I spent building the 6. The shows are good places to meet folks who have trucks they want to build as well. Jim
