Who sells new heater cores, I need the square on, not the round style. Have had no luck finding a supplier.

    Breezy,

You're in luck. At least the square one is available. The round one is not available new. You have a "fresh air" heater, right? I brought my leaking core to the local radiator shop. He matched it up and got a new one from his supplier. VERY spendy at $140.00, but the fully restored heater works great. However, I do not know any of the suppliers who have them in their catalogs.

The core number is # 3119687.

has 1 in stock you will have to call them to verify and get price, I have found them to be very cooperative and reasonable.

    Breezy,

Don't throw away the old core. You will have to take the old mounting plates off it and solder them onto the new core.

Well I got the core out and can't really see where it was leaking. The hose connecters were pretty out of round so it could have been leaking there. I had a socket that fit perfect so I rounded them up. I'll still have it pressure checked before reinstalling.

    Heater core

I would recommend you run withOUT pressure - use a 0 psig radiator cap (or no more than 4psig) Those cores are fragile (italian for delicate). I had mine built by Maine Radiator Co. and it is a superb job.

    Ohhhh Nate. Are you listening?

I believe that Nate has said in the past that the heater cores have more pressure than the rest of the cooling system because the supply to the core comes directly off the water pump. Please CMIIW, oh Grand Poo-Bah. LOL:D

Can't do the no pressure thing. This is on my newlly purchased 52. It has a V-8!! Yes I have 2 of these now.Had it checked today. No leaks, guess it was the hose connection? I'll be putting it back in.

    Cooling System Pressure

You'll be happy to know that a stock AD radiator is more than sufficient to cool off ANY V-8 engine .

Nonetheless , it's good to not exceed 4 # as the heater core is delicate and not designed to run much pressure .
