    Hi,
    im Jorg from Germany.

    This is my 59 Apache 3.1, 4-speed SM 420, 350cui, 4bbl Rochester,
Stock Steering, Pedals, Frame and Front, but changed into Power Disk Brake.

    Frame off restored 2004-2005.
Since this time the Truck runs more than 20k mls without any problems.

We drive the German Autobahn with an speed average of 90mls/h...
The Apache get a lot off awards, can not count... :D

Sometimes i go on the 1/8 miles, the engine is strong and runs best
    1/8 in 9.97sec at 85mls.

Now im looking for a original or Aftermarket Track Lock/ Posi.

Wondering Chevy have made it in the 50ies?

    Thanks for Information

    Jorg

WOW... What a beautiful truck, you should put these pictures in the gallery section. The rear thats under your truck now dident come there. Its from a later model. In the later models you could get a posi rear. Chris

    rear ends - pretty truck

love your truck........niether gmc or chevy made any posi or limited-slip transmissions from the 50s for the 1/2 tons - most guys with a 350/350 or 350/400 combo run the 3.73 10-bolts out of the camaros and chevelles - basically 69-72

let's you run most wheel size combos with success..........

58 & 59 GMC 1/2 ton trucks offered an optional "Power Lock" (their marketing name for limited slip) differential based on the standard Spicer 45 rear end. Was available both in 3.07 and 3.92 ratios.

If it is stock, it is a Spicer 45. Look on the strengthening web extending forward along the left side of the differential housing towards the front where the pinion shaft exits the housing. Mine has a "45" cast into it.

There was some kind of acquisition years ago. I think Dana acquired Spicer.

You might try posting a "wanted" advertisment on the Old GMC Trucks web site here: http://oldgmctrucks.infopop.cc/eve
