If you guys are wondering its a 305E v6 with a 3 speed tranny in a 66 gmc c20. I tried starting it today and i think i stripped the gear cause now it sounds like its free spinning. Is there any starters out on the market that i could get to replace the one i got?
That could be the solinoid... Remove it and inspect the gears and the flywheel for missing/worm gear teeth. If it looks good, take the starter down to Kragen, Pep Boys, etc etc,,, and have them test it. They should also be helpful in finding a replacement solinoid or starter. dval
