Scrolled the internet yesterday and found a picture of a 3100 truck dasj with a nice loocking clock onto it . The one i saw was`nt intergrated into the dasj but mounted on the outside. Did GM made these optional or did they sold clocks as an aftermarked product? Are clocks still avalable on the marked? Sinc.Martinius.
Post the pic of the clock. Wheather or not they produced one, there were HUNDREDS of aftermarket/ dealer installed goodies to customize your new truck with, along with liberating your hard earned cash. Or it may be an interprising customizer or farmer that found a cool clock that fit and used it.
My posting foto ability at this time is zero, howevever , Chevy cars (some) had the Waltham 8 day clocks in them mounted in the dash, I have one that keeps perfect time as I write this. It measures 3 inches out side to out side, the crystal is 2 inches, the movement case is 2 1/2 inches, the stem is 2 7/8 inches long coming out of the bottom (at 6 o'clock ), the face is white with Roman #'ls in black, on the back of the movement case is a standing flat back U bracket the mounts to a 5/32 fine tread bolt and butterfly nut.
Here is my 1954 clock and housing, this housing only fits 54-551st series chevy trucks, but the clock was also used for 53-54 chevy cars and 54 gmc truck and was mounted in the dash. For the 54 gmc truck it had a trim ring to hold it in the dash. Jim Carter sells the trim ring.
Upnorth 54 clock Upnorth Is your clock an wind up clock or an 6 or 12 volt electrical clock ? Sinc. Martinius.
