I posted a cupple photos in the gallery and there will be more to come I just cant seem to post them on this thread. This comeing week I will be going through my breaks. I am sticking with the drum breaks so I can keep the 8 lug wheels. then I am thinking of breaking down the engine and rebuilding it. is there a book you would recomend getting before I atempt this?
Looks good! Looks even better than mine did to start with. It seems as though your bed is something you can work with, as does the tail gate. Let the fun begin! Good luck with that 8 lug thing! As Nate said, you may want to think about swapping the pumpkin for a better gear ratio. The 3/4's and up are great for pulling a house off it's foundation, but not much for highway travel. These guys can answer your questions, so get after it! BTW: That is a BEAUTIFUL (dare I say, MANLY) looking grille!!!
Engine Service What engine is it ? . These early inline 6 bangers are sturdy , well designed units , made to be used hard and overhauled in the field , if it runs O.K. but smokes and has low oil pressure off idle , you should be able to fix it in situ very easily .
it is actualy the stock engine. also thank you zig. I have a really simple question tho. How does one change the rear tires on a truck like mine?

Well I got wheels and tires yesterday. They fit perfectly. but they hit the steering linkage and rub in the back. I would like to put stock wheels on but without the split rim part
Well my truck is now at the wheel shop to get properly fiting wheels. Soon I will have it at a friend of mines shop. he will go through the transmition and my breaks. He will also take my engine out for me so I can tare it down and rebuild it. hopefully I will have it rebuilt by the end of next month. my goal is to have it running in 3 months. it wont look nice in that time. but hopefully I can get the little guy running
I decided to do the break rebuild myself. I want to start with all new cylinders but when I ordered them I got the wrong ones. My truck is a 1953 but it still has huck breaks how do I make sure the next set I order will fit?
Huck Brakes Is it perhaps a Canadian rig ? . In any case , just order up brakes for a 1950 3100 series Chevrolet and you'll get all Huck (rhymes with , well you know) brake parts .
You can get Chevy fenders and Grill new to fix it. All Chevy guys will pitch in to help. No one will know except Zig & Wolf. We can keep the secret! The flat front is nice if you run outta space. Stack them on the nose like cadallics
check out my thread on the wheels and tires for an 8 lugger. looks stock and works without any clearance issues!!! welcome to the GMC side of things, now the chevy guys just want you to convert to their side because of jealousy mostly, due to the fact that we have this extra long long motor!! and not to mention a better looking manly grill as Zig would say!!! but the motor is nice to have oil pressure!! just remember when people ask you as you are wanting to get parts that you have a GMC not a Chevy!! you will more then likely have the 228. chevy guys have a 216 or dropped in a 235.

Oakland , Ca. Assembly Plant Same plant my '49 3100 was made in , I often wonder how it got to L.A. as they were built in Van Nuys too . Canadian AD's were built in Canada . Remember : it is common to have swapped out the axles so you may find Huck on one axle and Bendix on t' other . This isn't a problem , just be aware .
