Single exahust is better than dual sometimes.

I had a single exhaust on my 1993 Camaro z28. I switched it to a true duel exhaust with Flowmaster super 40’s and it sounded like crap! Sounded like a I had two 4 cylinders side by side, neither tuned well.
I later switched it back to the single exhaust with a single Flowmaster 80 (single in, dual out) and life was great with a deep rumble.

I don't know if this would hold true to other applications. But I plan to do this same setup on my project '54 3100. It has dual exhaust now and it sounds weak.

Numbers guy: it is only a single exhaust. just splits right before the rear end to a 2 tip set up just for looks. :D

    Wrong

Your dual exhaust was built wrong is all .

I'm no fan of Flowmaster mufflers ,they make poor quality sound IMO .

I know many like the deep basso-profundo rumble .

Where is the best location for a cross-over pipe? Just at the point where the pipe bend from the headers?

Most factory setups put the crossover within about 12" of the header pipe joint, but it works fine at the first possible location clearance allows.

    Crossover

As close to the header outlet as possible .
