I have a broken clip on the bottom of my fuse box, I suspect it for the head lights since they do not operate, although it could be the switch .
A red wire is on the bottom , but has multiple post .
    In line fuse is good.
    Ground seems ok
I get no hot indication with test light currently, at one point I did ???
My question is without having to re-wire the fuse box is there a way to splice or rig it to work?

    This has me perplexed.

The main power source to the head light switch should be a large gauge red wire probably 10 or 12 gauge. This wire is a constant 12 volts and is non fused. It should come from the battery side of the ignition switch and be hot even when the key is off. Use a test light and check your power sources. It's easier if you remove the head light switch and let it hang down below the dash when you do this. If you have power going in to the switch and nothing coming out then it could be a switch. Your tail lights and brake lights should be fused not your head lights. I hope this helps.....Big Tim

    thanks Tim
that helps getting me started, is there a trick to pull that switch for the lights?
I pushed in the spring on the side of it and released the post from the dash, from there, I'm kinda wondering how that block drops to see the connections.
Any direction is greatly appreciated. https://talk.classicparts.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Yeah if you push the button on the side of the switch then pull on the knob the knob and shaft will pull out of the switch. After that you will need a wide blade screwdriver. unscrew the bezel off of the switch on the outside of the dash then the switch should just drop out low enough to get a good look at it....Big Tim

If you only have the switch pulled half way out you will only have tail lights and license plate light . Make sure the switch is pulled out all the way then check your head lights at the switch with a test light first. If you have power at the switch but still no head lights go down to the dimmer switch and check it with your test light. If you have power going in and nothing coming out then it's probably the dimmer switch. Also check the connection on the wiring harness at the grill where it go's through the radiator support on the drivers side by the horn.....Big Tim

    Update------
Put a new switch in for the front lights & well- la ..... front head lights.
On a side note I poked my head into another 64 Chevy truck's fuse block and it was also missing the bottom right clip right side also, is that a factory characteristic?

thanks for the feed back, it's on the road at night now!!
