My "rottenchester's" leak as well:confused:. I had an extra Air Horn gasket and doubled up on the leakiest carb and that stopped most if not all leakage:cool:. My local flaps can't figure out how to just order the gasket. They want $15.99 for a whole rebuild kit. If anybody has a part number for just the gasket, I would appreciate it.

    Gasket

Here is the gasket p/n that I think you need (not knowing what carb p/n you have). This is the most common one. Your local parts store should be able to get it from Walker...323-232-3359. The Walker p/n is G164. I order all my stuff thru O'Reilleys (formerley Checkers). If this one doesn't look right to you, I have another page of gaskets. According to the Rochester Carb Bulletin 9C-305 for a 53 to 55 235 truck, the gasket kit p/n is 7004595.
    Hope this helps you. :)

    Thanks,

I called Walker and that is a number in their system. O'reilly's said it was an exhaust/catylytic convertor gasket. So I'm still struggling. Any chance you crossed some numbers on the Walker number?

what carter YF carb number should you buy ?

Carter YF W1 is recommended for the Chevy truck and a carb in good condition normally works great. The Carter YF6429S number is stamped on the tag, it is most likeley a newer model from around the 1973 as it has a high number range. But i am not shore if it fits the 235 intake manifold? You can find the answer for identification at the Carburator doctors website.

    Martinius.

Hope this will help a bit.Martinius.

P.S.The Carter YF modell with auto choke workes just fine when settings and adjustments are done in the right way! I have very good experiences with it.

The p/n I've given you is correct. O'Rielly needs to look in their '98 Walker catalog. Or you can call Walker and ask them to verify the number. They are wholesale only. New number is 714-554-5151. Or you can call National Carb at 1-800-634-2272. There's a good chance they might have the gasket in stock. http://www.nationalcarburetors.com/
