Can anyone identify this rear end from pictures. I have been told it might be from a late 50's pontiac?? Maybe wide trac? 3:09 gearing possibly? It's under my 54 3100.

    Thanks,
    Brian

    Rear End ID

Jack & securely block the rear end up high and go to work cleaning & scrubbing it , somewhere there should be some _stamped_ in numbers , post those and someone will know the definative answer .

I found my rearend identifier on the inside, right side of the carrier unit. it was cast there. I had to take off the rear cover to get to it. But thar she was!!:D Turns out it was a 57-62chevy 3.90 rearend. Who would'a guessed:confused:. Cost me a gasket and a couple quarts of fluid to find it. Oh yea...my knuckles are healed now too:rolleyes:!
