    Hello,
I found an original rear step bumper for my 66 stepside and original mounting brackets from a wrecking yard. My question is, where exactly and how exactly did the license plate mount to the body from the factory? Was it in the middle or under the left rear tail light and was it lit from the factory back then? I have crawled around under the truck to see if I could tell where it may have had an original mount but no luck. I have tried to find out with on-line sources but no luck. Any help would be appreciated. I just want to put everything back to the way it came from the factory.

You need a license mounting bracket, it comes with a light already in it and it mounts in the middle.http://www.scribd.com/full/5722345?access_key=key-20mhgxjcbazlklxtunnw go to this link page 129 36.00 Big Tim

X2...the license plate bracket (with integral light) mounts to the center of the bumper. Then, the license plate bolts to the mount. BTW...nice find.
