So to-day I washed the windows and hung an illuminated Christmas Wreath in my grille..... Then SWMBO and I drove it all over So. Cal. and out to dinner etc. , she says we can drive it to Las Vegas over our Christmas Vacation..... Yes , I'm a *very* lucky Man .
The " Blue Plate Special " Yes , of course.... That's one of the things I look for when selecting the next junker , er , FINE VEHICLE (yeah, that's it ) to add to my Fleet.... For a POS , it's actually a pretty nice old truck .
I love original plates! I want to find some for my gmc but '85 had stickers in place of the stamped date so idk. POS... even the most ragged out old chevy or gmc is still better than a brand new one that they make these days, and it will last longer too.
Original Plates FWIW ; TEXAS is very good about allowing you to register "Year Of Manufacture " (YOM) tags , it always depends on the mood and drug use of the Welfare To Work Queen behind the counter at the DMV tho' . There are places that'll make you up new plates to order , you can have them put the year & numbers you want and the color to suit and hang them on , I used to do this on some of my Brand 'F' A - Models....
I haven't seen any places online that will make two new plates. I've seen them say they will make one to match my other if im missing one or have a damaged one. Ive thought about getting some made with stamped dates then bring them into the DMV and see if notice, but that's an expensive chance if they say no.
Hey Roadhazardguy, I've seen the stickers for sale on Ebay in the past. There are at least 2 guys in San Antonio and 1 guy in Conroe who specialize in plates, plate stickers, vintage windshield stickers and the like. Remember, back in '85, you only needed the stickers on the back plate. Ken
Ive seen them on ebay before and ill probably get some if I ever find a nice set of plates. If I can't find any online i'll look up one of those guys when im finally dead set on getting some. I seem have a hard time remembering the 80's I guess since im only 20.
