Hello guys! I have got some time for my 3600 Chevy now, fun, and after removing the frontaxle I discovered that the from leafsprings was broken in the ends. I have been searching all over my country (sweden) and since it's a rare car here, parts are not easy to find to them! Thats why Im asking you guys! Anyone have a pair of leafsprings that will fit my 1949 Chevrolet 3600? I only need the upper/singel leafspring (see picture). Anyone have a pair laying in the garage that I can buy?? I will pay shipping etc etc. I would be VERY HAPPY if someone could help me out here. I want to take my truck to the safety inspection ASAP. I have Paypal btw. Let me know!
Forge Have a look for a lorry/truck spring repairer, they can make up new leafs to match your originals. That's what I did in the uk, both my front main leafs had snapped clean off just by the front bushes in the container on the ship while coming over to the uk. I knew of a spring forge shop in north London from years ago and they were still there in the old railway arches. I took along my old springs and new bushes for dimensions and they did a great job, it wasn't cheap but not expensive either, certainly cheaper than importing them. Jus my 2 bob
Okey thanks for the replys! I have been thinking of this too, but I tought it would be very expensive. But maybe it will be the fastest and cheapest way after all. I have to check with my local spring shop! Thanks...
They are usually surprisingly affordable, at least over here they are. Be shure to get BOTH made, you don't want to only replace one, as the other is probably well on it's way to breaking. They can make them a little lower or even add more arch, depending on what you want.
Thats true! I also saw that Classicparts sold new springs. I will check with the locals and see what will be cheapest way to go. Cant wait to start building the airride system later on!!!
