It would be interesting to see the variety of vanity plates on our old rides. My wife picked this one for my 1952 3100. Not sure if this is about me or the truck? Denis
Dual Purpose ! I only have a Vanity Plate on my old Ural Kooky Kommie Moto as the rest of my ragtag fleet retains original license plates..... It has " 94 URAL " on it . I always wanted " DIPPER6 " tho' .
Hey Denis, that is a way cool plate! I toyed with the idea of putting a vanity plate on mine, but opted for a YOM plate! My top 3 ideas were, now know that Texas limits you to 6 characters, either numbers, letters or a combination. First choice was "DADS50" because even those it is titled in my name, it will always be my dad's truck, God Rest His Soul! Second choice was "MY50AD" and third was "OHYEAH"!
Translation? Gonna have to help me here Nate, dipper, isnt that the thing you yanks call a baby poop catcher?
The real reason? Only his garage walls would ever see it... Ken's thinking about getting a bumper sticker that says... "If you can read this, my garage must have blown away. Send help!"
Neil, you're thinking of a scooper, as in pooper scooper! I like dipper6! Long live babbitt-pounders!
' dads50 ' It would have to be if only I had anything from him or , you know . I think this is a fitting tribute to a good man who's always watching you Ken.... Don't get your head too swelled tho' , we'll tease it back down to size right quick .
' dipper 6 ' I guess you've never been inside a 216 engine ? each connecting rod has a little scoop or " dipper " on the bottom of it that dips into a sheet metal trough of oil as it whizzes past..... Really , this is how it works ~ early 1920's technology in 1950's GM engines This is why I warn you alls to never drive it as fast as they'll easily go ~ the antique oiling system cannot possibly keep up so they'll burn out the rod bearings @ highway speeds in jig time .
No problem! Hope you're having fun! Someday I'll be down that way (Texas) and we can both go over and "see" this truck.
Sounds good to me. The fat old guy, my GrandKidz and their parents all made it back with all limbs intact after an over night drive from Keystone, Co. to 30 miles north of Houston this morning.
Lost in translation......Again!! I was hinting at diaper.........but I think my humour is a bit too way out there for you guys
It Was Understood Allright , I just thought maybe you didn't know what a dipper 6 was...... most don't and some kids don't believe me when I try to explain it to them .
Hey Brit I sure hope that my doesn't hear the GRUMPYSAURUS term.I'll never hear the end of it if she does.
