I'm finding my front parking lamp assemblies are a bit tough...pretty rusted and the inner socket's are pretty much shot. Thought I'd just order in a replacement set, but it seems they're not as available as many parts. Lens' are easy to find, but not so much the whole assembly, including here at our sponsor's site. I see on one listing where the '58-59 versions are available...how much different are they than the 51-53's? I'm not stuck on authenticity on this build, but want them to not look obviously "incorrect". Anybody able to advise how different they are? Could a 51-53 lense be fitted to a 58/59 lamp assembly?
The 58-59 GMC park lights are the same as the 55-57 chevy's, pick ups that is. Other early GM cars used the same housings, lenses for the back up lights. I got a set off of a Caddy. Be aware that the 47-50 park lights are differant than the 51-53. Chris
Spika~ First off, I love your truck in the avatar you use. Next, I like the idea of using the bigger lights like this as well. I ditched the front fenders that came with my truck for much smoother ones. One has the original light, the other has some trailer light bolted to it. I like these lights because they come in amber and they are bigger! I'm not seeing any reason they wouldn't work. I think it would just mean having to drill new mounting holes.
studester Thanks, Zig...that was my first build, and one I have a lot of fun with. 'Taint a GM or Chevy, but the Studester turns a lot of heads... This one shows the before and after...
