5 window question

Looking to buy a truck New here would lik a 5 window my question is if i can't find a 5 window. Can the corners be cut on a regular cab and make it. 5 window. Any one know of any trucks for sale reasonable. Thanks

 

I do. A 5 window as well! (NO, NOT MINE!!!!) I need to get pictures and post them...
There is a thread here that talks about putting in the corner windows, so I'm sure it can be done. If you can weld, it can be done. Good luck, and welcome aboard!

 

This would be a difficult job since you are dealing with a inner and outer skin. the inner skin of a 5 window cab is different than a 3 window cab. Unless you are a highly skilled fabricator I wouldn't recommend trying it. The thing to do though would be to re cap the cab with a 5 window cap. This would be much easier than trying to install those little windows....Big Tim

 

I think our sponsor sells a cab panal that is exactly for this application. What condition are you looking for and what is reasonable for you?

I don't have a 5-window and have never done a comparison.

Was the 5-window an option or part of the deluxe package? In the '47-'53 year models, what did the deluxe truck have differently from the standard?

I know it's probably been answered previously, but I'm lazy.

 

What shape is your 3w cab in? I have several 5w ones I'd GLADLY trade for a 3w provided it's not a rust bucket. Beauty trumps function everytime. Will exchange photos.

 

steep yes, but think of the added value once done. given everything else the same, a 5 window will bring this much and more than a 3 window.

 

wife has me on a budget have about 6000 to put in one.

 

You can find one in decent shape for that kind of cash. Get the best one for your money and start out that far ahead.

Mine was $2000, I adjusted the valves and drove it as it was for 6 months!
