I am looking for 2 hubcaps for a 1961 Chevy Apache 10 pickup. The originals on the pickup are the two-level dog dish kind with the Chevy chevron in the center.
Re: hubcaps Thanks for your response. How I wish you hadn't repurposed the hubcaps, even though you made them look good. I'm still looking for two hubcaps for a 1961 Chevy Apache 10 pickup. The restoration is nearing the end, but we need the two hubcaps.
If you are looking for original '61 Chevy Apache dog dish hub caps, there are not like the ones pictured in the motor photo, being used as air cleaners. I am not sure what year they are, since they have been modified/re-purposed. Do you have a photo of the cap you are trying to match?
Those were the original hubcaps that came on my 61 from the factory. At the time I had no idea they were 1 year only but what the hell, you only live once right? I see those as NOS on E Bay once in a while and they are chrome Too. They usually run from about 20-40 bucks a piece. Good luck ....Big Tim
I thought you had done some kind of surgery on the hubcaps. I do have some pictures, which I will try to insert. I am new at this; I hope it works. Everytime I try to insert an image or to attach pictures, I get sent back to the log-in page. I will try another ploy.
Let me clarify, those are only part of the original hubcaps and yes I cut em up and modified em to be air cleaners.....Big Tim
Any idea about where to try next to find the hubcaps. I found the outside parts - pretty rusty but restorable, I think--but they do not have the lip inside that holds the hubcap on. Would it be possible for a welder to manufacture the inside rim and attach it?
