just picked up carter yf 965s with auto chock off ebay.. going to give it a try.

question the truck came with manual choke..
I now have a auto choke carb.. it has a connection on side for auto choke.. looks like it may be a tubing connection.. what do i need to connect the auto choke in a stock like manner?

    Hey

What engine do you have 216 or 235 ?

How the condition is of your carb is significant ? No problems to buy parts. Here is a link ; http://www.carbkitsource.com/carbs/tech/Carter/Y-index.html

What i `ll think you have is the YF carb made between 1932-1962 /Modell C-1 Type YF downdraft for the 6 cylinder 216/235 engines.
It has a black dashpot and a outside fine treaded mounting hole where the stovepipe has to be mounted. This stovepipe goes from your carb all the way to the exhaust manifold and warms up the dashpot with heated air/CO2. If you dont have the original pipe its easy to make out of a flexible copper tube. The pipe needs a litle flange ( goes inside the carb hole) and the brass copper tightning nut to keep it in position .
Its very important that the carbs bottemgasket and the thick black insulator fits excactly with your intake manifold and carb- intake to give anough airflow ,our host have them for both 216/235 if needed . Know that the 216 and 235 carbs and intake manifold are made in different sizes ! Trotle connections rods have to be adjusted so they move free up and down as smooth as posseble!
When starting up the engine you have to give the gaspedal one push and dont touch it anymore. Let the engine run until it is gets warm anough so the aut. choke opens. Important to mount a tight closing airfilter to. Its posseble that you need to adjust the idling screw or stationairy screw a bit . Hope this is of any help ?

    Martinius.
