    Three Piece Rims

Is it made to come apart by removing a lock ring ? .

If so , use it as a flowerpot before it kills you .

The outer ring is a seperate piece, there is a groove between the outer lip and rim, like a semi truck.

What is a Split Rim ?

Maybe you can try google or yahoo images then search " split rim " ~ that oughta bring up a few million pix ~ take the time to look at the pix of exploded ones ~ I know I used 'em for many years sans problems and Joe still does *but*
we're both old guys who grew up with them and know how to check and service them , look for the important safety defects that can KILL YOU if you make a tiny mistake .

NOT (IMO) safe nor good for the average DIY'er hobby truck .

I took mine to several semi truck shops that work on split rims, and they wouldn't touch mine. There are some that are outlawed now, and mine were them. All shops regularly work on split rims and know what they were doing.

I just didn't want to risk it either. I don't know what I am doing when it comes to rims, and plus if it isn't right, and something happens, just not worth it to me.

Nate, great words of advise, like usual of course;)

I am very happy with mine. Just do a search for my thread on rims, to see what I used on my 8 lug 3/4 ton truck.

if yours is a 1/2 ton you will have many more options

Did anyone ever get you a picture? I could take a picture if you still need one. I'm new on this forum so I might need some help attaching a picture. I fianlly found a tire shop that still works on these rims!

    Split Rims

    Amazing .

Just to - day as I was doing my excersise in the Junkyard , I spied a rusted out 1969 C/30 Service Bed rig with scary bald tires on the original 8 lug split rims...
