My first wheels

    Even back then I admired Chevy pickups. I found this while rummaging through some old pictures of my Mom's. Would have been 1949.

    that looks to me like its a 1940 gmc in the background or chevrolet ?

    It's a Chevy. I'm not sure of the year.

    The picture was taken in front of 509 E Chestnut St, Bloomington Illinois. I lived at 505 E. Chestnut until I was 4, two houses down the sidewalk to the left out of view in this picture. My Uncle Jack (he is 88) has lived one more house to the left since he married in 1951. I called him tonight to say hello and asked him about the sign on the truck, "Sycle & Keefe", some phone numbers and "free delivery". Turns out Sycle & Keefe was a liquor store that has been out of business for many decades, but Uncle Jack remembered them immediately. Must be his Irish Catholic 80 proof blood.;)

    I love this Art Deco design even though the crank out windshields leaked like rusty sieves even when new.....
