Radiant floor heat is definately the way to go, but not practical for quick warm up. It is designed to be turned on a stay on. By far the most economical heat if installed properly.
Geothermal radiant heat is an option also. A friend installed a system in his parent's house. They trenched 6' down out into the feild and lay pipes. It circulates through the house and used ground heat to keep a constant baseline temp summer and winter. You can also drill down and acheive the same thing.
It is a great option, especially if you have room to place the coils. Kind of spendy up front......but cheap to run after that.
Geothermal radiant heat ? what circulates inside the lain out gound pipes ? . This sounds like it'll keep the house cool in summer too , non ? .
