Did some advance scouting for a replacement truck for Bill Hanlon today. Took a trip to La Grange, Tx (home of the infamous Chicken Ranch!) and scoped out 3 Chevy trucks!
Ruled out the 2 tone beige one and the red and white one, but the red '54 shows promise!
Even with pictures making them better than in real life I can tell the 54 is WAY better than the 49 I checked out for Bill. The 49 was a 50/50 product---okay 50ft away at 50mph.
The truck itself was nice looking but way overpriced in my opinion. The lack of attention to detail in the truck would not command the $27K price tag he had on it.
That looks good, I can eat kraut cold or hot all day long, then finish it off with some cabbage centers. Thanks for the idea for what I'm going to have tomorrow.
My '59 FHC is down for major front brake repairs and new trunnions too ~ of course , it began to rain again so no work getting done , it's sitting there under the shade tarp with the left front suspension off .
I need to find someone with a bead blaster in L.A. area or I'll be hand de rusting the brake backing plates in a bucket of Phosphoric Acid mix pretty quick .
Every time I take a thing apart , I prefer , if possible , to de rust and re - paint it .
As it's raining again , I didn't drive my truck due to the rust holes in the upper cowl plenum , they drip water on my feet in the rain .
