Thanks, Bill! That seems to be about how far off they are from clearing. I'll keep that in mind. I checked on the Colorado bolt pattern and they <are> 5 1/2" centers! $300- $400 price range complete.
Thanks, Charles! It's coming along~ Bill, I will take those spacers! Went to get the chrome wheels, but they were wider than I remembered. Like 9 inches wide! W-A-Y to wide for my liking... I guess I'll blast my old wheels as per original plan.
An addition I'm right proud of~ An old buddy of mine down in Niceville, FLA sent me this. (As well as a couple of Hog's Breath Saloon shirts!) Very proud to have this on my ride! It's really pretty small. It just looks big in the picture because I was trying to avoid showing the gap in my window rubber that is yet to be filled...
I recognize the USAF Symbol, but not having been in the armed forces myself, what is represented by the 'Red Stallion'? I like the paint scheme on the door panels, too. Disregard the PM about a pic of said panels... Thanks a bunch for the package on it's way.
Dual chamber non-boosted master cylinder Bill This solution sounds perfect as it has been troublesome to get the disc brake power booster installed that i bought long time ago from CPP. Wich of these dual chamber non boosted master cylinders would be you recommend i could use here combined with a front disc upgrade and where can you buy them ? Is it posseble to have the dual master cylinder located in the stock position under the floor ? What about the need of prop.valves when using this solution ? Some web references would be great to have. Thanks in thousend years Martinius
Martinius, everything you are asking, I will be doing. I just got the mounting bracket from our host, so I will bench bleed the dual master cylinder, and install it. As far as the plumbing, there is a site that the makers of the bracket sent that has info on how to plumb this. I'll post pictures as I go, of course~
That would be RED HORSE (an acronym of course) . The USAF squadron I was in. They are based down by Fort Walton Beach, FLA. "Charging Charley"
Master Cylinder is in~ This took a bit more contorting than the disc brakes did, but I did it myself, so this too can be done by yourself. Some help would have been nice if someone would have depressed the clutch peddle so I could have fished the long bolt through the brake arm that the push rod connects to. So, step by step, install bracket, find out which bolt would work best to attach the push rod to, install master cylinder to bracket, install rubber boot over push rod, install push rod, work rubber boot into place, download pictures, type this, have adult beverage. (my favorite part)
very nice upgrade! for that hole, you can put the original rubber plug, but to get access to fill it up, well good luck Can you at least get to it from below? Keep up the great work.
Dual master cylinder in position. Stig Thanks fore showing the upgrade but maybe you could answer the following questions: What brand or parts number master cylinder did you buy and did you installed proportianal valves in front ? Are the spacers you used fore the new disc brake setup included in the kit and did you get the clearing you wanted ? Thanks fore helping out Martinius.
Martinius, here is what I ordered from our host, Classic Parts. (The prices <are> correct.) I have not purchased the proportioning valves yet, or installed any plumbing yet. I am anxious to follow the thread Russ has started to see what he uses and how he routs his brake lines as this is a very important part of "safe" brakes. Item # Description Price Remove 71-201 (1947-59) Dual Master Cylinder $54.95 71-984 (1947-54) Master Cylinder Adapter Kit $89.95 The disc kit I ordered didn't come with spacers. Bill Hanlon sent me some 1/4" spacers I hope to get today and as soon as I do, I will see if that was all it took to get my original 16" wheels to work. I hope this answers your questions? Paul
